1 Pet 1:3-7  

 

1. What do we have in heaven? 

1 Pet 1:3 he has caused us to be born again to a living hope…  4 to an inheritance 

a. We have an inheritance

 

 

2. What kind of inheritance is it? 

1 Per 1:4 he has caused us to be born again to an inheritance that is imperishable

a. Our inheritance is imperishable

 

Matt 6:20 lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. ESV 

 

b. Our inheritance is undefiled 

 

 

c. Our inheritance is unfading 

 

 

d. Our Inheritance is kept in heaven 

 

3. Who this inheritance is for? 

1 Peter 1:4-5 

 

4. What effect should the understanding of this inheritance have on our live 

1 Peter 1:6-7

 

1. It produces in us a rejoicing in the face of trials! 
2. At Jesus’ coming it results in praise of God’s grace, glory due to Jesus’ name, and brings honorto Jesus for giving his life   2 Peter 3:11 Since all these things are to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness…  
3. We should be living lives of holiness and godliness 

 

One observation  

2 Cor 5:8 We are confident and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. KJV

• Our reward is being present with the Lord 

Ps 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (recognized perpetual superiority
