Philippians 4:6-7
  • Paul isn’t denying the existence of worry, but teaching us how to respond to it through prayer.
Philippians 4:6b, “In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
The WHEN of Prayer -> In Everything
  • There is no aspect of your life that is of no concern to God.
  • Prayer isn’t limited to quiet moments; it’s available in every moment.
The HOW of Prayer -> Two Practicals, One Posture

Philippians 4:6b, “In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
  • Practical 1: By Prayer
    • “Prayer is a way of being with and seeing God amidst the process of our moving through the world.” - Strahan Coleman.
    • Prayer isn’t always about “being productive,” but giving God the opportunity to be known by us as He’s already allowed Himself to be known.
  • Practical 2: By Supplication
    • Supplication is to make specific, humble, and sincere requests of God.
  • One Posture: Thanksgiving
    • Thankfulness is the natural posture of grace.
Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The PROMISE of Prayer -> Peace that doesn't make sense
  • God doesn't promise to give us what we ask for - He does something better, for He promises us peace.
  • Peace is not about circumstances – it's about Christ, and prayer is our avenue into that peace.
