Haggai 2:1-3
Ezra 3:11–13
And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the LORD, because the
foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. [12] But many of the priests and Levites
and heads of fathers’ houses, old men who had seen the first house, wept with a loud
voice when they saw the foundation of this house being laid, though many shouted
aloud for joy, [13] so that the people could not distinguish the sound of the joyful shout
from the sound of the people’s weeping, for the people shouted with a great shout, and
the sound was heard far away. (ESV)
Haggai 2:4
Look Up
2 Corinthians 4:16–18
[16] So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being
renewed day by day. [17] For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal
weight of glory beyond all comparison, [18] as we look not to the things that are seen but to the
things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen
are eternal. (ESV)
Haggai 2:5
Look Back – Remember the promises of God
Psalm 118:14–18
[14] The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.
[15] Glad songs of salvation
are in the tents of the righteous:
“The right hand of the LORD does valiantly,
[16] the right hand of the LORD exalts,
the right hand of the LORD does valiantly!”
[17] I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the LORD.
[18] The LORD has disciplined me severely,
but he has not given me over to death. (ESV)
Haggai 2:6-9
Look Forward – Hope in the Promises of God
Revelation 21:22–27
[22] And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the
Lamb. [23] And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God
gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. [24] By its light will the nations walk, and the
kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, [25] and its gates will never be shut by
day—and there will be no night there. [26] They will bring into it the glory and the honor
of the nations. [27] But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is
detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (ESV)
