The benefits of community/Friendship

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

1. Encouragement.
(We won’t reach spiritual maturity without community.)
2. Provision.
3. Protection.
I Peter 5:8
Your adversary the devil is prowling like a lion, looking for anyone he can devour.

Genesis 2:18
The Lord God said it was not good for the man to be alone.

Encouragement, provision, and protection is not only what I need to receive, but what I need to give!

Why many settle for isolation:
Ecclesiastes 4:4 – If you’re not in community, you’re in competition.
Ecclesiastes 4:5 – Laziness is tempting but leads to destruction.
Ecclesiastes 4:7-8 – When success is our one goal, WE’re never satisfied.

There are two kinds of loneliness:
Human Loneliness – a longing for others, our people. Met in the Church.
Cosmic Loneliness – a longing for God, our Creator. Met in Jesus.
